I was sad to hear the news of the passing of one of my favorite bloggers. Dean Barnett, 41, passed away yesterday after a long battle with cystic fibrosis. I first came to know of Dean when he began blogging for Hugh Hewitt back in 2006. His combination of intellect, insight, wit and humor won over thousands of readers, including me. One of the qualities I most admired was his polite approach to writing, even as he was skewering people. The Internet is the 21st century equivalent of the wild west, yet Dean was always the gentleman, even as others directed hostility toward him. He knew he had a terminal disease and his days were numbered. He occasionally wrote about his struggles in his posts. The world needs more Dean Barnetts. He will be missed.
